Legs, legs, legs...give me beautiful legs

OK, I think it's safe to say we'd all like to have great legs, men and women alike.  Some of the legs I've been impressed with and remember well are:  way back when at a swimming pool party in Norway, a girl (must have been a model) arrived with probably the longest and most beautiful legs I've ever seen (can't remember another thing about the girl, but have never forgotten the legs).  The other girl was a Canadian cyclist and had the biggest (most developed) thighs I've ever seen on a girl.  I was so impressed. I found them equally as beautiful as the other girls legs, just different (two completely different builds)...I think she referred to herself as quadzilla...by the way, she was winning all her bike races, which wasn't a surprise with the power packed into those legs!!!!  Eric Heiden in his day.....wow...amazing legs.  Actually any speed skaters thighs.  And, hockey players certainly can boast great legs...was very impressed with my husband Jim's legs from his hockey days, teehee.

The whole point of me raving about legs is maybe we don't have the tall and lanky build of the model or the leg development of  a cyclist, or professional skater...but each of us can have beautiful legs, nicely developed in proportion to our body.  These legs can make a hell of a splash at a pool party, or whatever activity we need them for.

Many people are very negative about their legs. They often tell me how ugly their legs are, that it's a family curse and nothing can be done about it.  If you're doing that please stop.  It's nonsense and there's no way your legs will ever get any better if you don't have a better attitude.  You've got to realize we're all different shapes and sizes (just think of dogs in different classes...working dogs, toy dogs, etc.etc....it wouldn't make sense for a Great Dane (beautiful big dog) to have the legs of a toy poodle for instance).

So todays healthy lifestyle habit tip: If you're big, enjoy the legs that go along with that build.  If you're short and stocky enjoy the legs that go along with that build.  And, if you're long and skinny then that has its own legs too.  The main point is when your legs are balanced with your body, they're beautiful.  It really is the balance of the body parts that creates a beautiful body...its got nothing to do with being a certain body type. So, I suggest you proudly claim your build and start making the most of that build instead of wasting time and energy wishing you were someone elses body type, and bashing your own body type.

So, having said all of that let me offer up that no matter which build you are, if you want the most fantastic legs, then you must add in squats and lunges to your workout routine.  I've added a video of me doing lunges.

The more we try and fix things the more they stay the same

The more we try and fix things the more they stay the same.  What does that mean?  Quite simply this: we aren't broken so we can't be fixed.  I've been gone a week, part of that week spent taking the Landmark Advanced Course in their fantastic series "Curriculum for Living".  What a fantastic course.  I highly recommend it  to all of you, your children and families.

The more we try and fix things the more they stay the same is a very interesting concept in my business, because people want to change...how they look, how they feel, their tummies, arms, legs etc.etc...and we the trainers are more than happy to oblige...there's nothing we love more than to change you, teehee.

We want to be the Fairy Godmother or Godfather and turn you into a prince or princess with the wave of our wand.  In the fairy tales being a Fairy Godmother/father seems so easy...they magically appear, wave their wand and everything's changed to the magical and so much joy is spread.  There's no struggle.

In our real lives as trainers this hasn't been quite that easy, because they forgot to give us a wand and full control.  When we say 'from this day forward you'll drink water and eliminate the use of alcohol and sodas' or 'from this day forward you'll cook all your meals and never again eat processed foods'....we're often mistaken for the evil stepmother and step sisters.  Our charges may even become hostile and say: 'I want to change but I won't do any of that', breaking our little helpful trainer hearts and souls.  We spend our lives side by side our Cinderellas and Cinderfellers trying to think of new and innovative ways in which to help them listen and adopt into their lives the incredible information we're privvy to.  What a waste it turns out.  In fact, there's no need for struggle. Yes, imagine that, there's an easier way.

It turns out we're having the wrong conversation with ourselves because we're living into a future we've already written for ourselves (default future)...and this future and conversation drive our actions.  There's no resisting this....you know the saying 'whatever you resist persists'.  So, trying a whole bunch of diets for instance doesn't work because it's the same person (same mindset) trying different diets....to change eating habits or any habits you have to rewrite your future and then you'll automatically live into it, because your actions will naturally shift to accomodate the new future.  The beauty of this system is rewriting your future automatically removes the problem.  How great is that!!!

So, the healthy lifestyle habit today is: Either sign up for the Landmark Forum, buy the book The 3 Laws of Performance by Steve Zaffron and Dave Logan, or see me and get busy rewriting your default futures, so your wandless Fairy Godmothers/Fathers can help you achieve your dreams.

And by the way, I'm back to blogging...fell of the horse and am getting back on, teehee...so brace for the ride and advice...this is the best about this job...yell and nag, and give 'helpful' advice and get paid for it....could life be better, haha, specially now with the new default futures??!!!

This picture's of me during the second half of my week away...visiting Zappo's  in Las Vegas (what an incredible company and experience of the future of corporate culture...I'm a huge fan) when at my mastermind with Adam Urbanski (a fantastic mentor, check him out)..didn't know then I would be writing of Fairy Godmothers and other Tales, teehee....

Let's get rid of calling ourselves fat...

Sitting here waiting to be picked up for my trip to Montreal and panicking over the blog I haven't written.  During the writing of yesterdays blog I was thinking how much I hate people calling themselves fat and then doing such stupid stuff in the name of getting rid of fat.  Fat is good and has a purpose.  Fat is the body's protective system...we must have it in the form of body fat.  And we must have it in the form of nutrients.  Having said that, there's obviously an optimal amount of fat and too much and too little.  To have an optimal level of fat we must eat fat, protein and carbohydrates...that's just how it is.  If you take out your fat you'll get fat.  Sorry guys.  Now, there are good fats and bad fats and exactly how much and what kind of fat is good for you and bad for you will in large measure also depend upon if you're a fast oxidizer or a slow oxidizer; a protein, carbohydrate or mixed type.  It should be clear to all that to have an optimal and beautiful layer of fat on our body we must pay attention to our lifestyle habits.  If we're carrying too much fat we're often out of shape which encompasses being sedentary, not eating correctly and often not having our mental and emotional components in order (having a fat layer as a protection against our emotions or thoughts).

So the healthy lifestyle tip is if you aren't happy with how you look stop saying you are fat and start saying you are out of shape.  You can do something about that!!!!  Get in shape now!!!  Take a year and focus on yourself.  Please get in shape....it is fun to have a nice beautiful layer of fat covering beautiful muscles.  Today's picture says: 'always look for what is beautiful in yourself'.
